I first met Hanafi at Komaneka’s space in Bali, a long time ago in the early start of Sin Sin Fine Art. I just fell in love with his elegant abstract paintings – which reminded me a bit of Tàpies, my all time favorite artist. I immediately felt a strong connection with Hanafi, especially upon witnessing his moving performance that went straight to my heart. I could sense his sincerity in his works, which felt so direct, so genuine, so inspired.
