Abdi is a quiet guy with innocent smile. His self-portrait sculptures, often invoking street life atmosphere, might look cute with their childlike spirit, but they are loaded with very real humanism concerns. It is this combination that first attracted me to his work. There is a peculiar sense of humour, a certain playful lightness even when the work explores grave matters.
