I feel a kinship with Fung Ming Chip as we have similar backgrounds: we both were self-taught. It is not easy to understand his works although their charm is quite undeniable. In general, his works appear calm and quiet, just like the artist himself. His materials are very traditional: paper, ink, and water. And yet, his expression is always inventive, without completely leaving the tradition it is based upon. Ming is always experimenting, pushing the limits. He has created hundreds of unique calligraphic scripts. In his recent works, he combines a small work with a big one, creating a dialog between them.
